Timmy was found during one of biggest raids in dog fighting ring history

Dogfighting is already considered an illegal activity in many parts of the world.

Though there are still some countries that tolerate it and consider it legal, it doesn’t take away the fact that it puts dogs’ lives in complete misery, pain, and suffering. Some people are just heartless that they can sit still and watch these innocent dogs trying to tear each other up until one of them drops.

One of their victims became a poster puppy for animal cruelty and his name is Timmy.

Timmy is just one of 367 dogs that were rescued in one of the biggest dog fighting raids in history.

It’s considered the second-largest dogfighting ring raid in the U.S.

This cruel bloodsport spread across the states of Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.

Thinking about the actual number of dogs that became victims of this is almost unimaginable. Calling this activity heartless is even an understatement.

Thankfully, Timmy was among the hundreds of dogs who were saved from certain punishment in the ring.

He’s actually one of the youngest among the rescued dogs, and he has since become the poster puppy for abused dogs.

Timmy was taken to the Humane Society of Calvert County in Maryland. Their facility took care of him on behalf of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

It didn’t take long for help to come Timmy’s way.

Kirstyn Northrop Cobb is HSCC’s adoptions counselor and she was the first person who tried to foster him.

Sadly, things didn’t work out for them because Timmy and her pig didn’t click being under the same roof. But help didn’t stop there because Brian and Nadine DeCicco, who knew Cobb via a mutual friend, stepped in to offer help.

There’s no denying that the DeCicco’s wanted to adopt Timmy, but taking him in needed to pass on two certain conditions.

First, the little pittie had to be good with kids because they were already expecting and he’d soon be an uncle to their twins.

The couple wanted to make sure that everything would go easy for Timmy and their family.

Second, the federal court handling the dogfighting case needed to give them an “OK,” since under the law dogs, just like any other animal, are considered to be property.

In this case, since Timmy was seized from a suspected dog fighting situation, his owner needed to give up his/her rights to the dog, or the court would give the dog to someone who would give him far better treatment.

Finally! A new family and home for Timmy!

Without a doubt, Timmy seemed to behave well around all the kids he met. Brian and Nadine DeCicco finally became his permanent legal human companions.

There’s no better way of ending his story than this.

By the looks of it, the DeCicco’s home became his sanctuary. Our little survivor blossomed into a jolly and playful dog. He must’ve been spoiled by so much love and attention, but that’s okay. He deserves all of it anyway.

His sad story of being held in a dog fighting ring became a fairy tale with a happy ending, something that every dog would wish to have.

Again, let us all be vigilant and be the voice of these poor dogs.

Let’s not tolerate any activity that promotes animal cruelty.

Our dogs and all pets deserve nothing but love. They don’t deserve to be chained and mistreated.

In the future, we hope to hear no more sad puppy stories like Timmy’s.
