It’s bad enough to dump a puppy somewhere alone, but to do so in below-freezing temperatures is even worse. So, when a local rescue got a tip on an abandoned puppy, staff hurried to the location to try and save him from exposure.
Fortunately, the puppy made friends with more than just the shelter staff.
Hurrying to the location, two rescue members searched for the puppy trying to find him.
They found the area where the video they had received had shown him to be, but he wasn’t there. The two women desperately searched the area, hoping to find him before it was too late.
The puppy was found cold and alone
They finally found him shivering in a corner and rushed to help him. Alone and afraid, the two women picked him up, placing him in one of the women’s coats.
The puppy was rushed to the vet clinic
He did not look good and time was of the essence.
Arriving at the clinic, he was checked out.
His temperature was very low and he looked emaciated and weak. The staff gave him an IV to help replace some of his lost fluids.
He was also given some food to help him recover his strength. The rescue workers left him at the clinic in the capable hands of the staff to recover so he could be moved into a foster home once he was ready.
Beginning a new life in a new home
Naming the puppy Archie, soon he was ready to begin a life in his new home. Once there, he showed that he had a good appetite and began to gain some of his weight back.
Archie also made friends with the family’s other dogs.
Adopted by the family Rottweiler
Before they knew it, Archie had been adopted by the family Rottweiler, a female named Remy. The larger dog followed Archie everywhere, protecting him and making sure to give him plenty of love.
Social animals by nature, dogs can easily adopt another animal as one of their own, especially the young which put of certain pheromones.
In Archie’s case, the family Rottweiler had decided to adopt him, maybe seeing him as a puppy of her own.
See how Archie and Remy’s bond continued to grow in the video below.
